El Gran Tornillo – Monumental Screw on a water tank in Salta, Argentina

The starting point for this artwork has been the reinterpretation of the tank’s shape.

In 2014, we looked at a few different spaces to make an urban intervention. The tank’s potential really stood out and we started a design process on Facebook, asking our friends what would they turn it into. This is what Andy Warhol used to do…ask his friends what to paint. So finally someone made de association between the two shapes and so it all began. On the opening day, the then City Mayor Miguel Isa said:

“I hope that when people a feeling like they are missing a screw, they can come here and meditate”
