We were commissioned by the school to transform the Music Block with a large scale participatory mural.
After a lot of preparation and risk assessments we found a way to work during lockdown. Our brief was to involve key workers children in the creative process and later invite them to come out and paint. Also the parents showed up and a few regular volunteers. In total 18 volunteers helped us paint the entire building in seven days only! The idea was to have a 3D design on the front that broke the flatness of the wall with an intriguing lower and upper spheres. We were inspired with the children’s desire to overcome the difficulties and elevate their game under such difficult circumstances. On the reverse side, the design breaks up into a Free Style Hexagon Composition!
We were lucky to get photographer extraordinaire Helen Murray to come and make a register of what went on!
