Mar I Llum

Mar I Llum is inspired by the quality of light in Valencia and the Mediterranean colours, which were so influential in Sorolla’s paintings.

This piece was inspired by the simplest of pleasures; the sight of the shore from the sea on a calm day.

The immediate environment is also reflected in our other murals in La Huerta (Lo Que Vale Un Peine, El Reloj Alcachofa, La Tia Tomata and El Labrador del Sol). The aim is to encourage the viewer to take a second look at a familiar landscape. We also wanted to tie the series together, by working in under-used spaces with lots of potential to create artworks with a local theme and flavour.
