Inside Out
A storefront that invites customers to not just shop, think.
After receiving some funding from Lewisham Council, we pitched a sci-fi inspired image to the owner of the Launderette. We wanted to combat the binary nature of the washing machines’ open or shut doors with a more fluid picture. Glancing at the image as you pass by gives the impression that you’re actually in the shop — and what could be a better way of attracting customers than making them feel as if they are already inside?
Since we finished this piece in 2011, the owner later on commissioned us to continue on the inside, reminding us that all spaces are valuable, no matter how practical or unexpected.
