New X-ING Relay

In September 2012, as part of the Cultural Olympiad, Artmongers presented the New X-ING Relay to New Cross.

A street stage offering free public performances from Sept 21 to Oct 6 2012, contributors ranged from blue grass bands, to experimental soundscapes, to dancers from Trinity Laban, to street dance and poetry to political debate. The idea was to involve Goldsmiths students and local performers in engaging the public on the streets while mingling in new networks and becoming part of the debate.

The area outside Goldsmiths Library (on Lewisham Way just by the main Goldsmiths building) is a natural gathering point, which is easily visible to bus passengers, cars, pedestrians and students. For 16 days, we gave people the perfect excuse to sit on the steps and enjoy some local culture.
