A collaboration between University of East London and The London School of Muralism.
Being very serious about playing is what people in sports and in the arts have in common.
This artwork explores this rich common ground between the two seemingly distant human passions.
Created as the final project inUEL’s first-ever short course in Muralism, the artwork commemorates 125 years of sport at the university and expresses a spirit of active participation and sense of belonging to where we work,
learn and play.
The starting point of this immersive artwork is the diamond shape, signifying improvement and adaptability. It forms a dynamic structure which embraces movement and change. The words painted across the structure anchor the visual metaphor with tangible images we can all relate to.
Students involved from The Department of Architecture & Visual Arts:
Ridwan Aboubakari, Gauri Kulkarni, Martin Kimotho and Elena Danescu
lead by Patricio Forrester, founder of the London School of Muralism & Artmongers.
